University and urban green areas

Objectives

The University and urban green areas working group assesses the management of University green areas and estimates their impact on the environment and climate change with the aim of suggesting and defining adaptation and mitigation strategies.

Activities

  • Develop a University Green Area Management Plan
  • propose concrete actions to improve
  • the survey/census of university areas that may be considered urban green areas or agricultural/forestry zones
  • management of university areas that may be considered urban green areas or agricultural/forestry zones
  • promote awareness campaigns
  • intensify networking and collaboration.

The University participates in the activities of the Climate Change working group of the Italian University Network for Sustainable Development through its representatives Maurizio Maugeri (Aldo Pontremoli Department of Physics) and Antonella Senese (Department of Environmental Science and Policy).
