Medical Practitioner
Article 102 of Law Decree no. 18 of 17 March 2020 (text coordinated with conversion Law no. 27 of 24 April 2020) established that the single-cycle Master's degree programme in Medicine qualifies for the exercise of the medical profession, provided that the graduate successfully completed a practical internship (in the medical, surgical or general medicine area) during the programme.

Students enrolled in the 6th year (on and off-track): tutor choice
Students enrolled in the 6th year (on and off track) of the degree programmes in Medicine of the University of Milan, who have passed the fundamental exams for the first four years, may choose their internship tutors through our "choice of tutors" application. The application is usually open to eligible candidates 30 days prior to the internship start date.
Candidates will be notified of the procedures for internal medicine and surgery tutor assignment by the Student Office.
The internship quarters are generally as follows: January-February-March, April-May-June, July-August-September, October-November-December (Regulations approved by the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Medicine on March 11, 2020).
For the purposes of qualification, graduates are required to make the following payments through Online Services - Payments, tuition fees, exemptions - Payment Services - Contribution for office services:
- € 49.58 - State tax for qualification;
- € 200.00 - University fee for qualification.
Students enrolled in the 5th year: tutor choice
Students enrolled in the 5th year of the degree programmes in Medicine of the University of Milan, who have passed the fundamental exams for the first four years, may choose their internship tutors in the areas of internal medicine and surgery in the April-May-June and July-August-September sessions.
Students enrolled under the previous degree programme system, before the reform introduced by DM 270/2004 (code D01, D03, DX1 and DX3), can participate to Postgraduate internship only.
Medicine graduates who are not yet qualified for medical practice may qualify by completing their practical internship after graduation.

Only graduates from Università degli studi di Milano are allowed to apply for the internships.
