How to enrol in the open semester
The enrolment period is between 10.00 on 23 June 2025 and 17.00 on 25 July 2025.
When enrolling, you must:
- choose one programme between Medicine and Surgery (LM-41), Dental Medicine (LM-46) and Veterinary Medicine (LM-42);
- select at least 10 universities where you would like to attend the second semester (please note that the first university must necessarily be the one where you want to attend your open semester);
- choose an alternative degree programme in which you would like to enrol in the a. y. 2025/2026 in case you do not rank high enough in the national ranking to be admitted to the second semester. The alternative degree programme must belong to a related disciplinary area (L-13 Biology, L-2 Biotechnologies, L-38 Zoology, LM-13 Pharmacy and industrial pharmacy), or to one of the degree classes in the health professions, namely:
a) Health Assistance (L/SNT4)
b) Professional Education (L/SNT2)
c) Nursing (L/SNT1)
d) Orthoptic and Ophthalmologic Assistance (L/SNT2)
e) Podiatry (L/SNT2)
f) Audiometric Techniques (L/SNT3)
g) Audioprosthetic Techniques (L/SNT3)
h) Environment and Workplace Prevention Techniques (L/SNT4)
i) Cardiocirculatory and Cardiovascular Perfusion Techniques (L/SNT3)
j) Neurophysiopathology Techniques (L/SNT3)
k) Occupational Therapy (L/SNT2)
l) Orthopaedics Techniques (L/SNT3)
- select at least 10 universities where you would like to attend the alternative degree programme. Please note that the universities selected for the alternative degree programme can be different from the ones selected for the degree programme in Medicine and Surgery (LM-41), Dental Medicine (LM-46) and Veterinary Medicine (LM-42);
- if you have a disability at or above 66%, or a recognised disability pursuant to Law no. 104/1992, state that you hold the relevant disability certificate;
- if you are already enrolled in a degree programme belonging to the class LM-41, LM-46 or LM-42, or in one of the above alternative programmes, specify which courses you have already taken and attach the relevant attendance documents;
- declare whether you hold:
- an Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator (ISEE) equal to or lower than €27,948.60
- an Equivalent Asset Situation Indicator (ISPE) equal to or lower than €60,757.87
At the end of your enrolment on Universitaly, you will receive a unique identification code to be used in the next step.

International students may access the open semester by completing the dedicated registration procedure on Universitaly, between 10.00 on 23 June 2025 and 17.00 on 25 July 2025.
Non-EU students who need a visa are also required to complete the pre-enrolment application for visa purposes on Universitaly, by 25 July 2025.
International students must demonstrate Italian proficiency at a B2 level or higher, by submitting one of the language certificates recognised by the University and issued within the CLIQ quality system (Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità): CELI, CILS, PLIDA, CERTIT. Alternatively, they must pass the ITA L2 test with a score not lower than 48.
If you selected the University of Milan for your open semester, you must complete the following steps between 10 July 2025 and 25 July 2025 (23.59):
- register on the University website (this step is not required for those who are in possession of UniMi login credentials or a SPID identity;
- access the online form to enrol in the open semester (the link will be published on 10 July);
- fill out the form with your personal information:
- tax ID number (codice fiscale)
- passport photo as .jpg, .png or .bmp file (max 2 MB)
- high school information (name of the school, final mark, year of your high school diploma)
- unique identification code generated at the end of your enrolment on Universitaly
- pay the €250.00 enrolment fee via PagoPA by 25 July 2025 (please note that this fee is for the open semester only). Disabled students who have a degree of disability greater than 66% and/or who have a certified disability (Law No. 104/1992), are e exempted.
Please save the receipt generated at the end of the process, as it serves as proof of your enrolment. The enrolment receipt consists of two pages: the first one contains a summary of the information you have entered, while the second one specifies your matriculation number, your student login credentials (which will be active starting from the day after your enrolment) and information on your University email account. This second page in particular is very important, so make sure not to lose it.
In any case, if you do not remember your student credentials and want to check whether your enrolment has been confirmed and print your receipt, you can still access the service by using your registration credentials.
If you selected the University of Milan for your open semester, you must complete your enrolment on the UniMi portal between 10 July 2025 and 25 July 2025 (23.59).
