Open semester: matriculation
The national rankings for admission to the degree programmes in Medicine (LM-41), Dental Medicine (LM-46) and Veterinary Medicine (LM-42) will be based on the overall score achieved by each student in the three end-of-course exams.
Only students who obtain a minimum score of 18/30 in each exam will be included in the rankings. The ranking will determine who can matriculate into the second semester, based on the number of places available in each university and according to the preferences expressed by each student.
If you are admitted to the second semester of the degree programme in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan, when matriculating you will be required to choose the hospital/campus where you will attend your courses: Policlinico hospital, Vialba hospital or San Paolo hospital.
If you obtain a score equal to or above 18/30 in the three end-of-course exams, but fail to rank high enough to access the second semester of your chosen medical degree, you may matriculate into the second semester of the alternative degree programme that you indicated on Universitaly. In this regard, please keep in mind that limited-enrolment programmes can extend the number of places available up to 20%, so you must rank high enough in the national ranking to be included in this percentage. Students who matriculate in alternative degree programmes will be granted credit recognition of the three exams taken during the open semester.
If you are not admitted to the second semester of your chosen medical degree, nor of the alternative degree programme, you can:
- repeat the open semester up to three times, including in non-consecutive academic years;
- enrol in another degree programme, provided there are still places available and you meet the admission requirements (e.g. you have passed the TOLC test). Credit recognition will be evaluated by the competent bodies of the degree programme, upon request.
