As part of the "Agency for university student services" project that is promoted by the Municipality of Milan, the University of Milan has made an agreement with the municipal health protection agency (ATS) to provide students residing outside of the Region of Lombardy with basic healthcare services free of charge, without waiving access to the general practitioner in their place of residence.
To take advantage of this service, you must meet the following requirements:
- be enrolled in a study programme at the University of Milan, and located in the Milan area, for academic year 2021/2022;
- be a resident in Italy, but outside the Lombardy Region.
The application must be submitted online from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022.
Students applying for the service will be issued a “Certificate of Entitlement” and a “Healthcare services request form”.
Students who have a Certificate of Entitlement can request medical check-ups from the physicians indicated in the list transmitted by ATS, and at each check-up they must:
- exhibit the “Certificate of Entitlement”, an identity document and a European Health Insurance Card;
- hand in the completed and signed “Healthcare services request form” (which can be downloaded and printed from the service’s website).
Check-ups can be arranged up to 30 September 2022.
Students who were issued a Certificate of Entitlement will not be able to use the service if they do not meet requirements during the validity period of the certificate, or they will have to refund medical check-up costs paid to ATS by the university.
