Prevention and lifestyle
The University of Milan conducts communication campaigns to promote prevention and healthy lifestyles among the whole academic community.
The campaigns are run jointly with other public entities and associations in the framework of research projects. By reaching and engaging students, they aim to shape the University into an environment that is conducive not only to learning and research, but also to health advocacy and promotion.
To prevent serious diseases caused by human papilloma virus (HPV), such as oral, cervical, anal and penile cancer, the University is launching a free HPV vaccination campaign for people up to 26 years of age. The campaign is organised in partnership with ASST Fatebenefratelli Sacco.
HPV comes in over 200 serotypes: some are transmitted through skin contact and cause common warts like the ones people get in swimming pools, while others are transmitted through sexual intercourse and can cause different types of cancer. HPV vaccination is essential to prevent the spreading of these diseases in the male and female population.
The vaccination campaign will run through December 2025 at the ASST vaccination centre (via Statuto 5) and at the IRCCS National Cancer Institute Foundation of Milan (via Venezian 1).
To book your free vaccination appointment, you just need a University of Milan email address (domain @studenti.unimi.it or @unimi.it or @guest.unimi.it). Appointment bookings will open on 20 November on a dedicated platform and also on the LezioniUnimi app.

The University of Milan joins forces with "Amici Donatori di Sangue — Policlinico di Milano", the blood donor association of the Policlinico hospital, to raise awareness among students about the importance of blood donation. Donating blood not only has a strong ethical and civic significance, but also goes hand in hand with taking charge of one's own health.
Throughout the academic year, professors who are already blood donors will invite members and volunteers of the association to speak at the beginning of their classes, specifically about the value of donating blood and what the donation process at the Transfusion Centre is like. The goal of the initiative is to have a student community that is more informed and responsive about this topic.
