Academic year ceremony

The most important ceremony at a university is the inauguration of the academic year. We usually celebrate it a few months after the annual opening of academic activities.

The ceremony includes an opening speech by the Rector and a lectio magistralis, which symbolises the beginning of teaching activities.

The ceremony for the 2020/2021 academic year took place on Tuesday, 8 June 2021, on a special occasion: the visit of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella to our University.

A highly symbolic moment of hope and confidence in our future after the pandemic, the ceremony was introduced by Cristina Messa, former Minister of University and Research. Rector Elio Franzini opened his lecture entitled "Presence and Future" by greeting the authorities and paying homage to the victims of the pandemic. After a speech by Guglielmo Mina, President of the Student Conference, Ivano Dionigi, President of AlmaLaurea, gave his lectio magistralis entitled "University: Why and for Whom".

Institutional events and exhibitions
