Course objectives

corso di laurea triennale in Storia intende far acquisire al laureato una solida formazione storica, anche se ancora generale e di base, che gli consenta di sviluppare il senso dello spessore storico sotteso ai fenomeni, ai processi e alle strutture della realtà. Questo processo di formazione sarà fondato sulla conoscenza di base degli orientamenti e dei linguaggi storiografici delle varie epoche acquisita con la padronanza degli strumenti necessari alla esegesi documentaria e con l'utilizzazione delle nuove tecnologie informatiche. La formazione del laureato sarà sostenuta dalla conoscenza generale della storia dell'umanità e non soltanto del mondo europeo, unitamente alle conoscenze di carattere interdisciplinare necessarie per elaborare una visione globale del contesto storico degli eventi passati e contemporanei.

Il corso di laurea intende far acquisire al suo laureato un livello di conoscenze e di competenze idoneo per operare:
- nell'attività svolta da biblioteche, archivi, musei, e più in generale nell'ambito delle attività culturali presenti nel mondo del lavoro, per le quali risulti opportuna o preferenziale una formazione di carattere storico;
- in attività editoriali sia nel settore redazionale, sia nei settori legati alle nuove tecnologie della comunicazione;
- nell'attività giornalistica diretta alla produzione di testi e alla divulgazione culturale;
- nel settore turistico-artistico, ove si senta l'opportunità di approntare degli strumenti per una fruizione storica;
- nell'attività di pubbliche relazioni in genere;
- all'interno di centri di ricerca pubblici e privati che operano in ambito umanistico, sociologico e antropologico, nonché nel campo della promozione della cultura all'estero e nei vari ambiti dell'industria culturale italiana e straniera
Inoltre il corso di laurea assicura nel suo curriculum di studio la possibilità di iniziare il percorso formativo per accedere all'insegnamento nella scuola secondaria, garantendo la preparazione necessaria all'ammissione al corso di studi magistrale, al termine del quale è possibile il passaggio ai corsi del TFA (tirocinio formativo attivo).

Entry requirements

In ottemperanza alla legge D.M. 270/04 - art. 6, che prevede la verifica, in chiave orientativa e formativa, della preparazione degli studenti in ingresso, il corso di laurea procede alla valutazione della carriera personale dello studente all'atto dell'immatricolazione.
La Facoltà di Lettere ha deliberato di richiedere la verifica dei requisiti d'accesso a coloro che hanno conseguito la Maturità con una votazione inferiore a 70/100, secondo le modalità del Progetto Pari (http://pari.ariel.ctu.unimi.it/v1/home/PreviewArea.aspx).

Study abroad

The undergraduate course in History and the postgraduate course in Historical Studies have an old tradition of international exchange that started at the beginning of the Erasmus Programme, which is now called Erasmus Plus.
The annual exchange opportunities are available to both students and professors. The University of Milan has Erasmus exchange agreements with universities in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Cyprus.
All students currently enrolled at either the undergraduate History course or the postgraduate M.A. course in Historical Studies can study abroad at a partner university for 6 or 9 months. Students who are attending a Ph.D. course can also study abroad at some of the above destinations.
While abroad, a student can attend courses, take exams and do research work, which then will be given an amount of credits depending on the study contents and on the duration of the exchange.
The study programme, which is called Learning Agreement, is agreed upon before leaving, depending on the courses, exams and activities that the student wants to focus on, according to his study plan. The student will then be able to get the credits needed to complete his study plan thanks to those professors who carefully compare the course contents of the University of Milan to those of partner universities. It is possible to focus on history, but also to get some credits in departments different from humanities.
The Department has a permanent international representative. Every year a meeting is organised for those students who are leaving, so as to give them specific information about destinations and contacts.
The Department of History has international agreements for research and teaching development with other universities, for instance the Lomonosov University of Moscow. In this case, it is possible to plan specific study plans with the person in charge. The study will then be recognised according to the above criteria.
Furthermore, the Department of History is included in the Erasmus Plus-Placement Programme, which enables students who graduated within 12 months to access an exchange programme. Information about selection processes and international partners (archives, libraries, editors, cultural institutes) are available on the Department of History website. This programme enables students to access training experiences in order to get professional knowledge.
