Master Coordinator
This cross-cutting and multidisciplinary vocational master is designed to provide a wide range of professionals with expert knowledge, combining a strong theoretical foundation with practical skills. The ultimate goal is to enable participants to develop critical thinking skills and operational competencies in detecting and managing biological emergencies, including epidemic, pandemic and bioterrorism scenarios. The programme also aims to facilitate the development of knowledge and skills related to the planning and coordination of public health interventions, advanced infectious disease diagnostics, the prevention and control of infections, as well as epidemiological surveillance. Furthermore, the programme includes training on the management of high-biocontainment laboratories and dissection rooms, as highly specialised expertise is needed to work in these environments.
The programme will start in the second semester of AY 2025/2026 and will be delivered partly in person and partly online. It comprises 260 hours of lectures (equivalent to 26 university credits, or CFU), 90 of which will be delivered in e-learning format, and 270 hours of other forms of training (15 CFU), 180 of which will differ depending on the track chosen by each participant. In fact, participants have to choose between two different specialisation tracks, either Clinical Diagnostics or Health, Hygiene and Preventive Medicine
The tuition fee for participants will be euro 3000,00, including the insurance costs.

The programme is open to anyone holding a Master's or single-cycle degree under Ministerial Decree no. 270/2004.
Career opportunities are mainly in areas that require specialised expertise in the management of biological emergencies and infectious diseases. Participants will learn how to design and assess safety protocols and intervention plans, by collaborating with institutions and public healthcare facilities on epidemiological surveillance and the coordinated management of emergencies. Thanks to the training received, they will be able to work in environments where there is a high risk of biological hazards, such as BSL3 and BSL4 laboratories, isolation wards and other specialised healthcare facilities, contributing to the early detection of pathogens, the coordination of emergencies and the development of prevention and control strategies.
