The Language Service of the University of Milan (SLAM – Servizio Linguistico dell’Ateneo di Milano) offers free basic, intermediate and advanced Italian language courses to all international students - incoming Erasmus+ or current students - interested in improving their Italian knowledge during their stay at the University of Milan.
Thanks to the agreement with The University for Foreigners of Perugia, the University of Milan is an authorized exam centre for CELI, Certifications of Italian Language, structured along the lines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Activities and initiatives aiming to deepen knowledge of Italian (as foreign language) not only at a linguistic level but also in its cultural aspects, are managed by the university centre Calcif (Centro d’Ateneo per la promozione della lingua e della cultura italiana). Calcif activities are addressed to:
- Marco Polo Project Chinese students
- teachers, students and amateurs
- embassy and consulate staff
- aspiring promoters of Italian language and culture abroad.
Calcif offers – to both Italian and foreign graduates– the first-level vocational master Promoitals -'Promozione e insegnamento della lingua e cultura italiana a stranieri' - in cooperation with our Humanities study area.
It organizes also summer courses held between July and August in Gargnano (BS) on Lake Garda, and the CALP Summer School (Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency) for International students, held between July and September, in cooperation with Municipality of Milan.
