Fees - current academic year

University fees for students enrolled on bachelor’s, master’s and single cycle degree programmes are divided into two instalments of different amounts and with different payment deadlines:

  • the first, corresponding to the minimum amount, is the same for all students
  • the second - technically referred to as an ‘all-inclusive fee’-  that is variable.

Students can also be entitled for tuition fee reductions such as:

Second instalment - students enrolled from 1 January 2020

The first instalment of € 156.00, comprising a Regional Tax for the Education Incentive Programme (Diritto allo Studio) of € 140.00 plus a € 16.00 revenue stamp, is payable by all students enrolled on bachelor’s, master’s and single cycle degree programmes. The first instalment must be paid within 30 September 2019.

First-year students must pay the first instalment at the time of enrolment.

Re-enrolling students must pay the first instalment online by using the Payment Service accessed through UNIMIA.

Late payment will be subject to a € 30.00 late payment charge added to the amount of the second instalment.

The second instalment is calculated on the basis of three variables:

  • the economic situation of the family unit, as stated on the University ISEE (Indicator of Economic Situation) certificate. Students must request the certificate from any CAF (Authorized Fiscal Assistance Centre) or INPS (Italian Social Security Authority)

  • the student’s chosen bachelor’s degree programme belonging to one of three areas of contribution (A/B/C – study area)

  • the number of university credits earned.

The second instalment must be paid by 31 January 2020. The amount to pay will be available online on UNIMIA, usually by the second week of January. Students must pay the second instalment using the Payment Service on UNIMIA through the pagoPA payment system platform.

Those who do not pay the second instalment cannot continue their academic studies.

Students who do not want to be charged the maximum enrolment fee must request the  University ISEE certificate by 15 November 2019. A late payment fee of € 250.00 will be applied to ISEE certificate requests made between 16 November and 31 March 2020.

  • students enrolled on the second year with an ISEE value of less than € 40,000.00 and at least 10 university credits earned by 10 August 2019.

  • students enrolled on years subsequent to the second who are up to the first year not on track with exams (primo fuori corso), whose ISEE value is less than € 40,000.00 and who have earned at least 25 credits between 10 August 2018 and 10 August 2019.

  • enrolled students who have not been on track with exams for two years or more and have earned at least 25 credits between 10 August 2018 and 10 August 2019.

  • Between the minimum ISEE value and € 40,000.00 [(Student ISEE – minimum ISEE)*Rate1] + Second minimum instalment
  • Between € 40,000.00  and € 70,980.00: {[(40,000 - minimum ISEE) * Rate1] + [(Student ISEE - 40,000) * Rate2]} + Second minimum instalment
  • Above € 70,980.00 or not declared: Maximum second instalment.
REQUIREMENTS

If the second instalment is equal to or more than € 700.00, it can be paid in four tranches (one payment per month for four months).

Only students enrolled on bachelor’s, master’s and single cycle degree programmes can reschedule payment of the second instalment. This option is not available to students who:

  • enrol or re-enrol after 31 December 2019

  • enrol on a postgraduate programme (Master’s, Advanced courses, doctoral programmes, postgraduate schools)

  • enrol on the online Computer Systems and Networks Security degree programme (Crema campus), for the additional contribution only.

PAYMENT METHODS

Requests to reschedule the second instalment can be made online as soon as payment of the second instalment is possible, and in any case by 31 January 2020 at the latest. Students can request the rescheduling as follows:

  • by accessing Sifa online services > online Payment Service > Rescheduling – from the UNIMIA personal web page

  • require the rescheduling. With the confirmation it will not be possible to pay the entire amount of the second instalment in one go.

  • paying the first tranche using Pago PA – Issue of Payment Notice

Payment of the second, third and fourth tranches can only be made after the University receives payment of the previous instalments.

PAYMENT DEADLINES

With the request of rescheduling, the secondi instalment is divided into 4 tranches with the following deadlines:

Payment deadlines
28 February 2020
31 March 2020
30 April 2020
29 May 2020

Late payment of the fourth and final amount will incur a late payment fee of € 30.00 (for delays of up to 15 days) or € 60.00  (for delays of more than 15 days) on the full second instalment.

Failure to pay even one of the tranches will result in an immediate stop to the student’s university studies, until payment is made.

CANCELLING THE RESCHEDULING OPTION

Should a student terminate their studies at the University of Milan (due to voluntarily withdrawal, transferral or graduation), the rescheduling option will be cancelled and the student’s career will only officially end when they complete all administrative requirements and pay the full amount of the second instalment, in addition to any late payment fees.

The rescheduling is cancelled and the student must pay the tranches in a single payment if:

  • the payment of a single tranche is made with a method different from the ones provided by the University;
  • the ISEE is modified, with update of the amount of the second instalment after 31 January 2020.
Benefits for students who meet high merit requirements

A further reduction in the second instalment is available for students who have earned at least 90% of their university credits by 30 September 2019 and who:

  • are enrolled and on track with their exams, with a university career that is progressing normally

  • are enrolled on years after the first

  • have an ISEE no higher than € 60,000.00

The requirements and the number of credits to earn are indicated in the Programme Structure for the student’s particular year of matriculation. All credits earned within the established deadlines are, in any case, considered valid.

A student’s university career will be deemed not to be progressing normally if they:

  • interrupt their studies

  • transfer to a different university and repeat the same year of their degree programme

  • repeat the year of their degree programme

  • already have a bachelor's degree.

All internship credits earned by students enrolled on bachelor’s and master’s programmes in Health Professions and on single cycle degree programmes in Medicine and Surgery up to 31 October 2019 will be taken into consideration.

Credits for training activities provided over more than one year or semester and tested by means of a single exam shall be deemed to relate to the degree programme year in which the exam is scheduled, as indicated in the Programme Structure.

Second instalment of fees for students with income/property abroad

For foreign students whose family unit has income/property abroad, the second instalment is not calculated according to the University ISEE certificate. Instead, the second instalment consists of a fixed amount calculated on the basis of the student's citizenship group.

Second instalment fees for students with Italian citizenship residing abroad and with income and property abroad are calculated according to country of residence.

Students who have political refugee status only pay the minimum fee (first and second instalment). The University ISEE certificate is only required if they have income or property in Italy.
