La Statale per la Pace is an initiative of the University of Milan aimed at creating a space for reflecting and exchanging on peace-related topics, through a series of cultural events open to the academic community as well as to the general public. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to foster a culture of peace based on a constant dialogue with citizens and local stakeholders.
La Statale per la Pace is in full continuity with the objectives and actions of RUniPace, the Network of Italian Universities for Peace promoted by the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities (CRUI). The mission of RUniPace is not only to promote interdisciplinary research on peace, but also to build a culture of dialogue and inclusion by fostering the role of women and younger generations in peacebuilding processes, in line with the constitutional and universal principles of human dignity, freedom, justice and democracy. The University of Milan joined RUniPace in 2019 and has been a member ever since.
La Statale per la Pace is organised by RUniPace-Unimi, a group of over 100 members including professors, postdocs, PhD students and technical, administrative and library staff. The group is coordinated by Professor Roberto Cornelli, who serves as Rector's Delegate for teaching, research and third-mission activities on the topics of peace and social justice, as well as liaison officer for RUniPace.
