The Vice-rectors

There are three areas relating to research for which the Rector has established offices with specific and distinctive responsibilities:

  • Research strategies and policies
  • Valorisation and transfer of knowledge
  • Third mission, territory and cultural activities.


Maria Pia Abbracchio, Professor of Pharmacology and expert on therapies for multiple sclerosis, was appointed by the Rector Elio Franzini as Deputy Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector responsible for Research Strategies and Policies at the University of Milan.

Maria Pia Abbracchio, Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Milan since 2002, heads a research group of 12 scientists at this University.

She is also a member of the Interdepartmental Academic Board for the degree programme in Pharmacy, and of the Board of the doctoral research programme in Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology.

University Research Report (RAR)

The report summarizes the University research monitoring and assessment activities.
The first edition of the report refers to the period 2017-2019; in the subsequent years the report is published yearly.

Marina Carini, professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, is Vice-Rector responsible for Third Mission, Territory and Cultural Activities. 

Professor Carini is Deputy Director of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, as well as President of the Intradivisional Group on Pharmaceutical Analysis of the Division of Pharmaceutical Chemistry (Italian Chemical Society) and Arbitrator for the Italian Society of Cosmetic Sciences.
