Changing degree course, withdrawing from studies and second degree students

Students who changed degree course (for freshmen)
  • Students who have already taken the Placement test while enrolled in their previous degree course and reached the level required by their new degree course will have both level and the corresponding credits/additional learning requirement (OFA) uploaded automatically on their career page after completing the degree change procedure. If their English level is lower than the level required by their new degree course, students have to contact us through the Informastudenti platform, 'language test' category, and they will be registered to attend an English course during the second semester.
  • Students who have already uploaded a language certificate during the previous enrolment procedure have to upload it again during the new enrolment procedure. We will validate the certificate and upload the level and the corresponding credits/additional learning requirement (OFA) onto the new career page.
  • Students who do not hold a valid language certificate nor took the Placement test must register for the Placement test without delay. They should follow the instructions received via email.
Students who trasferred internally from a degree course to another
  • Students who have already taken the Placement test while enrolled in their previous degree course and reached the level required by their new degree course will have both level and the corresponding credits/additional learning requirement (OFA) uploaded automatically on their career page after completing the degree change procedure. If their English level is lower than the level required by their new degree course, students have to contact us immediately through the Informastudenti platform, 'language test' category, and they will be registered to attend an English course during the second semester. Please note that students will have to get in touch with us as soon as the transfer to the new Degree course is completed; otherwise, it won’t be possible to be registered in the English course.
  • If, while attending their previous degree course, students had been enrolled in an English course because they had failed the Placement test, but were not admitted to the end-of-course test, now thye must get a language certificate among those accepted by the University before graduation or within the year in which the English exam included in their degree programme is scheduled.
  • If, while attending their previous degree course, students had been enrolled in an English course because they had failed the Placement Test, but did not pass the end-of-course test yet, now they have to contact us through the Informastudenti platform, 'language test' category, and they will have the opportunity to sit the end-of-course test provided that they still have some remaining tries available.
  • If they did not sit the Placement test while enrolled in their previous degree course, students cannot take advantage of SLAM services anymore. Therefore, they will have to get a language certificate among those accepted by the University before graduation or within the year in which the English exam included in their degree programme is scheduled, unless:
    • the Placement test was not required by their previous degree programme;
    • they did not attend any courses nor did they take any exams while enrolled in their previous degree programme because they had already planned to transfer internally to another degree course.

In one of these two cases, students have to contact us through the Informastudenti platform, 'language test' category, and they will be registered for the Placement  test on the first available date.

Students who have withdrawn from a Unimi course and enrolled anew
  • Students who have already taken the Placement test should ask for their previous university career to be validated by submitting relevant request to the Student Registrar at their new degree course, together with the request for any other exam transfer and validation. After such validation, both English level and the corresponding credits/additional learning requirement (OFA) will be uploaded onto their new career page.
  • If their English level won’t be validated, or if their English level is lower than the level required by their new degree course, students have to contact us immediately through the Informastudenti platform, 'language test' category. They will be registered for an English course, even if they have already attended one while enrolled in their previous degree course. Students will have to get in touch with us as soon as they receive their previous career’s validation resolution; otherwise, it won’t be possible to include you in the English course.
  • Students who did not sit the Placement test while enrolled in their previous degree course must register for the Placement test without delay. They should follow the instructions received via email.
Students who transferred from other Universities
  • Students who have already taken an English test during their previous university career should ask for it to be validated by submitting relevant request to the Student Registrar at their new Unimi degree course, together with the request for any other exam transfer and validation. Should such test be validated, both English level and the corresponding credits/additional learning requirement (OFA) will be uploaded onto their new career page.
  • In default of such validation, students will have to register for the Placement test according to the instructions received via email.
  • Students who have been enrolled in a study year following the first have to contact us through the InformaStudenti platform, ‘language test category’.
Second degree students

  • Students who have already taken the Placement test during their first degree career should ask for their previous university career to be validated by submitting relevant request to the Student Registrar at their new degree course, together with the request for any other exam transfer and validation. After such validation, both English level and the corresponding credits/additional learning requirement (OFA) will be uploaded onto their new career page.
  • If their English level is lower than the level required by their new degree course, students have to contact us through the Informastudenti platform, 'language test' category, and they will be registered for an English course.
  • Students who did not sit the Placement test while enrolled in their first degree course must register for the Placement test without delay according to the instructions received via email. Students who have been admitted to a study year following the first have to contact us through the Informastudenti platform, 'language test' category.
